Single Parent Ministries Training

Mountain View Church is excited to be the area host for a Single Parent Ministries training event on March 14, 2026.  This all-day training event will cover: 

• Embracing the vision for single parent ministry 
• Preparing and getting started
• Understanding and ministering to the unique needs of single parent families

Discussion topics will include:

1. Biblical basis for ministering to single parent families (they are today’s widows and fatherless, also “the least of these”)
2. Social urgency for ministering to single parent families (statistics, vulnerability of parents and kids to dangers of poverty)
3. What to do and what not to do to make your church single parent friendly
4. Overcoming objections (spoken or unspoken) about taking on this ministry as a church
5. Working with single moms and single dads, pros and cons of co-ed ministry and what we’ve learned
6. Re-thinking benevolence and how to address ongoing needs vs. one-time needs
7. The importance of men in the church getting involved to “father” the fatherless and best practices for this kind of involvement
8. Safety and protection measures to consider for single parents, their kids, and your church
9. How to integrate single parent families into the life of the church
10. Ways you can expect God to bless your church as you engage in this work that is close to His heart
